Come prepared to enter the world of the esoteric; from orange to oxidized, natural to far-flung we will seek to explain “WTF?!” is up with the new breed of boundary-pushing wines. Held at the Brooklyn Wine Exchange--one of the top retailers in the city for natural, organic, and biodynamic wines--and guided by WineChap’s Editor Talia Baiocchi, you’ll taste through six weird and wonderful wines, learn about the techniques employed to make them, and the movements they are a part of. To top that, local Carroll Gardens purveyor Stinky Bklyn will be providing a cornucopia of meats and cheeses that are bound to play patty cake with these hipster wines. We’ll be doing two 90-minute tastings--the first at 2:00pm and the second at 5:00pm--so get to booking your preferred time now! The Line Up: Domaine Mosse Moussamousettes Petillant Naturel NV Red Hook Winery (Abe Schoener) ‘The Electric’ 2008 Gravner Ribolla Gialla Anfora 2002 Domaine Briseau (Christian Chaussard) ‘Patapon’ 2008 Sylvain Saux Pechigo Rouge NV Domaine Montbourgeau L’Etoile Vin Jaune 2000

Here’s a little bit more about our partners for this event:

Brooklyn Wine Exchange: Owned by partners Patrick Watson, Christopher Modica, and Joseph Mastriano, the Brooklyn Wine Exchange concentrates on finding hand-picked, small production wines from family-owned wineries.  They have one of the largest local wine sections in the city, as well as an entire wall devoted to the ever-increasing selection of natural, organic and biodynamic wines.  BWE shows a dedication to educating their neighborhood by devoting nearly half of the shop to their Learning Center.  The 40-seat space houses wine classes, chef demonstrations, and winemakers at least four times per month covering everything from Italian Wines to Sake. Stinky Bklyn: Stinky Bklyn, located on Smith Street in Carroll Gardens, is a locally-owned shop that features an extensive selection of hand-picked regional and global cheeses; jamons, prosciuttos, sausage and artisanal meats; fresh breads baked daily by Tomcat and Il Forno; spectacular craft-brewed beers; and more.
