If you happened to miss Eater.com’s Oenofiles post, every Tuesday we’ll be posting a list of the heavy duty BTG pours that Mr. Madrigale will be showcasing at Bar Boulud each week. Here’s the skinny:
“For several months now Bar Boulud Wine Director Michael Madrigale has been pouring back vintages trophy wine from large format, by the glass. What you may not know, however, is that this isn’t just a feature reserved for antediluvian Upper West Siders with cash. Instead, Madrigale has been pulling a Robin Hood every night, making wines like 1975 Cos d’Estournel, 1991 Olivier Leflaive Montrachet, and 1993 Verset Cornas accessible to the everyman by pricing them at wholesale or below (95 percent of the wines fall at or under $25/glass). So, for those looking for a lesson in the classics without having to mortgage a family member: welcome to Nottinghamshire.”
