About us
Introducing WineChap
WineChap fearlessly delivers news and reviews of restaurant wine lists in an independent quest for value, variety, and character. We spend our time poring over lists, so the only pouring you need to do is in your glass.
WineChap is a unique online resource. We provide you with access to real-time wine lists, reviews, and recommendations, and our selections cover a range of different budgets and occasions.
Beyond our website, we offer an iPhone app, events, private tastings, wine tourism services, and Premier Crew memberships - WineChap's premium wine concierge service.
Important bit: this a team effort, so please sign up to become a WineChap chum. As a member of the community, in return for your boozy tales from the field you will receive access to our special events, tasting offers & general ribaldry.
Salut!

Boo Murphy

Boo has always had a thing for flight attendants, so was the natural choice to oversee winechap’s global expansion. Having run a technology / design agency, and lunched around the world as vogue.com restaurant critic, where else to wrap it all up but in WineChap?

Too useless for the army, the original WineChap cut his teeth at Lea & Sandeman hosting corporate and private wine tasting evenings to both educate and entertain. Writing includes regular wine and food columns – ‘WineChap’s WineTips’ for Urban Junkies and ‘Notes From the Bottom of a Bottle’ for More Intelligent Life (The Economist).

John Dunphy

As a founder member of WineChap UK, John has focused on launching the Premier Crew service and managing key industry relationships. The daily goal of spending more time in the gym than at the dinner table hasn’t quite happened yet, but he’s still hopeful.

Kate Powell

WineChick Kate got hooked on Chassagne-Montrachet during her first job at Oddbins so decided not to follow her archaeology degree into becoming the next Indiana Jones. Kate looks after the UK site, liaising with the restaurants and generally keeping us all in shape.

WineChap Hong Kong was the River Café Sommelier before jetting to Asia to spread the vinous gospel. We’re terribly proud of the WineChap super-palate and excited for the region.

From the Russian Tea Room to Le Cirque and Daniel and thankfully now WineChap, Ron is also our most prized vinous asset. Ron believes the best way to keep it fun is to do it well, and putting the perfect guest experience as the number one objective becomes your signature.

Talia Baiocchi
email: talia@winechap.com
Our US Editor-in-Chief commenced her foray into professional wine consumption at the humble age of thirteen when she discovered just how educational liquidating her parents' cellar could be. Aside from a brief hiatus during college (wherein drinking light beer was fashionable), she has remained dedicated to the craft—from working the harvest in Piedmont, to managing private collections, to the tireless task of boozing in restaurants. In her spare time she enjoys a friendly game of Majiang and pens a heady blog about the marriage of music, art, and of course — wine.
Favourite topic of conversation: French Neo-classical art, the Pythagorean Theorum, Boo Murphy, the hamburger.
