WineChapUK On Bordeaux ’09: Pauillac

Post image for WineChapUK On Bordeaux ’09: Pauillac This week’s bite size intel on the 2009 Bordeaux hysteria–courtesy of WineChapUK–takes us to the beast-bearing appellation of Pauillac.

Continuing to offer stylistic diversity some of the most famous names in Bordeaux were up next:  Lynch-Bages was a steamroller, but with freshness and excellent fruit; Mouton by contrast was impressively supple and succulent (not an ‘86er according to the winemaker) whilst Lafite was simply gorgeous; compact, stylish, graceful (despite a higher percentage of Cabernet than Cos) – Audrey Hepburn in a glass.  The best of the rest of the appellation carried themselves with similar grace and elegance.

WineChap’s Top Picks: Lafite (wine of the vintage?), Carraudes de Lafite, Lynch Bages, Pontet Canet, Clerc Milon (NB –  Latour not tasted)
