List Summary

A fairly extensive list which namechecks every producer you will have heard of across the quality spectrum reminiscent of a good maitre d who greets equally effusively all regulars irrespective of station, so long as they really are regulars. Division is by region and sub-region, white then red, appearing side by side with pricing fair to middling with a few treats.

There is a good selection by the glass, and reasonable strengths in depth of vintages (particularly in magnums) although Bordeaux tenders some slightly whiffy older bottles. The spread of wines misses little and there is commendably even-handed treatment of the New World, the Americas in particular excite in the choice available. A ten vintage/style selection of Louis Roederer Champagnes offers a fun hook at the beginning of this otherwise conservative but comprehensive list.

NB - Although WineChap wonders from which hospitality school hailed the seemingly obligatory country house hotel requirement to strew amusing random wine quotes among the listings, like rose petals over the Bridal bed, the quip below from My Little Chickade alone justifies this slightly twee practice:

During one of my treks through Afghanistan, we lost our corkscrew. We were compelled to live on food and water for several days (W.C. Fields)
